Traveling With Scooters - Tips and Advice For Disabled Travelers

By Jean Rasbridge

It is very easy to let disability stop you from getting out of the house, let alone out of the country. However, although my mobility became more limited several years ago I have found it is possible, with a little planning, to fly abroad.

However, before taking the leap and booking your flight, you need to check the maximum weight an airline will allow.

This can vary greatly depending on the airline you fly with. I usually fly with Easy Jet, and they accept a weight of up to 60 kg. They are also extremely helpful!

Not all airlines are so accommodating. One airline will not carry mobility scooters weighing over 30 kilograms - not much use considering that to my knowledge there is no reliable mobility scooter of this weight in the market.

Remember also that airlines have a maximum number of mobility scooters and wheelchairs that they will carry, and that this number varies according to the airline. It is therefore imperative that you book your scooter on to the plane at the same time as you book your flight.

Each airport and airline is different. I usually fly from Bristol airport, and on my last two flights I remained on my beloved Liteway 4 mobility scooter until the flight was called.

I then drove to the steps of the plane where I received priority boarding. and the scooter was lifted into the hold. At my destination an Ambilift met me with the scooter on board and off I went.

Certain airlines are still prejudiced against disabled people. However, with new legislation coming in this situation should improve. See you on the beach!

The Talk About honda scooters

While looking for an electric kid scooter, inquire about its attributes and what benefits they can provide when it comes to safety. If you want your child to have the best protection, buy an electric scooter that has two wheels on the rear end. This kind of scooter is best for children within any age after 5, since it is the least difficult to balance on. Moreover, look for a scooter with wheels that are big enough and not far apart. Scooters that are made otherwise turn out to be rickety and hard to use.

Scooter Starting Tips
It is definitely frustrating when you can't get your scooter or moped started. The first thing you'll need to do is to narrow down the problem. In order for your gas scooter to start, it really only needs 3 things:
1...Your scooter needs to spark at the correct time.
2...Your engine needs the proper fuel/air mixture and exhaust flow.
3...You need sufficient engine compression.
